Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Chana (dried) 1/2 cup
  2. Onion 2
  3. Tomato 1 1/2
  4. Coconut grated ( dry, fresh) 1 tbsp / coconut milk
  5. Ginger grated 1 tsp
  6. Garlic crushed 1 tsp
  7. Khada masala ( cinnamon, cloves, pepper, bay leaves)
  8. Dhania powder 1 tsp
  9. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  10. Salt, chilli powder to taste
  11. Oil 2 tsp
  12. Coriander leaves finely chopped for garnishing 2 tsp
  13. Fresh cream 1 tbsp


  1. Wash chana. Chop Onions.
  2. Heat oil in pressure pan.
  3. Add all khada masala. Let it splitter.
  4. Take out from the pan for fresh grinding.
  5. Now add Onions and saute
  6. Add grated grated ginger, garlic, Dhania powder, turmeric and chili powder.
  7. Daute for 2 minutes. Now add hot water.
  8. As water boils add chana and mix well. Cook for 5 to six whistles.
  9. Blend tomatoes. Heat oil in a separate pan. Add blended tomatoes and saute.
  10. Now add grated coconut to the tomatoes. You can use coconut milk too. But that should be added after Tomatoes get sauted well.
  11. Saute tomato coconut mixture well.
  12. After it gets sauted add freshly ground garam masala
  13. Now add your cooked chana. Aren't they look tempting?
  14. Add Chana to the tomato coconut mixture.
  15. Take fresh cream ( malai) and beat.
  16. Add to the gravy. . Mix well.
  17. Adjust masala of your taste. Serve with garnish of coriander leaves.
