ABOUT Sri Lankan Spicy Sambal RECIPE

My friend, Ambika had just come back from Sri Lanka when I visited her in Dubai. She had learnt this from there and when she made it, I devoured it. She was glad to share the recipe with me.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2 Fresh coconuts grated
  2. 60 ml - Coconut water or hot water
  3. 1 tsp - red chilli powder
  4. 1 medium finely diced onion
  5. 10 bird's eye chillies chopped
  6. 1 lemon juice
  7. Salt to taste
  8. For the tadka:
  9. 4 dried red chillies broken into pieces (optional)
  10. 10 curry leaves
  11. 2 tbsp - oil
  12. A pinch of haldi for colour

Instructions

  1. Mix all except the tadka ingredients in a bowl
  2. Heat the oil and add the tadka ingredients and fry them crisp
  3. Mix it with the others in the bowl
  4. Keeps in an air tight container for a week.
