Tomato Dates Chutney

Ingredients to make Tomato Dates Chutney

  • tomatoes 6
  • Seedless Meaty dates 10 or 12
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • mustard seeds 1/4th tsp
  • cumin Seeds 1/4th tsp
  • fennel seeds 1/4th tsp
  • fenugreek seeds 1/4th tsp
  • onion seeds 1/4th tsp
  • fenugreek seeds 1/4th tsp
  • salt 1/4th tsp
  • curry leaves About 5
  • Brown sugar (Optional) 1 tbsp
  • Dry Red Chili 1 broken into half
  • water 1 cup

How to make Tomato Dates Chutney

  1. Heat mustard oil on high till smoking point.
  2. Reduce flame and add all the seeds in the order mentioned above from point 4 till point 7.
  3. Add curry leaves, red chili, dates, chopped tomatoes and pinch of salt.
  4. Add sugar, 1 cup water and mix.
  5. Cover and cook on low flame till water is well absorbed, dates and tomatoes are well cooked.

Use Ripe Firm Tomatoes
