ABOUT Matar Paneer RECIPE

The all-time favourite combination of green peas and paneer

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 1 cup green peas
  2. 1 cup paneer (cottage cheese) cubes
  3. 3 tbsp oil
  4. 1/4 cup chopped onions
  5. 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
  6. 1 tsp ginger-garlic (adrak-lehsun) paste
  7. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (haldi)
  8. 1/2 tsp garam masala
  9. 1/2 tsp finely chopped green chillies
  10. 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Jeera)
  11. 1/2 tsp chilli powder
  12. 1 tsp coriander (dhania) powder
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 1 tbsp finely chopped coriander for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the onions and stir on a medium flame for 3 minutes.
  2. Add the tomatoes, green peas and stir on a medium flame for 1 minute.
  3. Add the turmeric powder, garam masala and green chillies, mix well on a medium flame for 2 minutes.
  4. Cool and blend in a mixer till smooth using 2 tbsp of water. Keep aside.
  5. Heat the remaining 2 tbsp of oil in a deep non-stick pan, add the cumin seeds, ginger-garlic paste and the prepared onion-tomato paste and stir on a medium flame for 3 minutes
  6. Add the chilli powder, coriander powder and salt and keep on a medium flame for 2 minutes
  7. Add the paneer cubes, mix gently and cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes ,while stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve hot garnished with coriander.
