ABOUT Maggi stuffed Potala Rasa / Maggi stuffed Pointed Gourd Gravy RECIPE

Potala Rasa is a popular dish from Odisha. It's a must on any Marriage function or any festival day.While in the traditional preparation pointed gourd is stuffed with potato or cottage-cheese, I have stuffed my favorite Maggie in it. The result is delicious .

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 8 piece Pointed Gourd
  2. 1 packet Maggi
  3. 2 medium sized Onion
  4. 2 tbsp cashew nut
  5. 2 cup tomato puree
  6. 6 clove garlic paste
  7. 1 inch ginger
  8. 1 tsp cumin powder
  9. 1 tsbp Coriander powder
  10. 1 tsp garam masala
  11. 2 tbsp Kashmiri chili powder
  12. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  13. 4 tbsp cornflour
  14. 4 tbsp sunflower oil
  15. Salt per taste
  16. Water

Instructions

  1. Peel the skin of bottle gourd lightly. Boil water. Once it starts boiling add the bottle gourd and boil for a minute. Cover the lid and switch off the flame. Let it sit for 2 minute in that stage.
  2. Cook one packet maggi using the maggi masala. Make it little dry in consistency, so that it can be used as stuffing.
  3. Take out the bottle gourd from the hot water and let it cool a bit. Make a slit joining two end point of bottle gourd. Take out the seeds .
  4. In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil and shallow fry the bottle gourds on both side.
  5. Stuff each bottle-gourd with cooked maggi and keep aside.
  6. Add cornflour to 1/2 cup water and make a thick solution. Dip each stuffed bottle-gourd in it .
  7. In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil and Shallow fry bottle-gourds for a minute on both side.
  8. Make paste of Cashew nut, ginger and garlic.
  9. Add more 2 tbsp oil in the pan. Add chopped onion and fry till light brown. Add ginger-garlic-cashew paste. Cook for 2 minute.
  10. Add tomato puree, coriander powder, cumin powder, chili powder and cook for a minute. Add a little water and let it cook for 3 to 4 minute. Adjust the salt.
  11. Add stuffed pointed gourds and cook for a minute. Sprinkle garam masala and cook for another minute.
  12. Serve hot with Roti or Rice.
