Fiery Red Chicken in Yoghurt Sauce

ABOUT Fiery Red Chicken in Yoghurt Sauce RECIPE

A quick Indian style chicken curry using yogurt.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken with bone - 750 gms
  2. To marinate:
  3. Dry Kashmiri Red Chillies- 6-7 nos
  4. Cardamom- 3-4 nos
  5. Cinnamon- 1/2 inch stick
  6. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tablespoon
  7. Garlic- 10-12 cloves
  8. Ginger- 1/2 inch piece
  9. Vinegar- 1-2 tablespoon
  10. For gravy:
  11. Onion- 2 medium (thinly Sliced)
  12. Yogurt- 1/2 cup
  13. Red chilli powder- 1 tablespoon ( adjust as per your taste)
  14. Coriander Powder- 1/2 tablespoon
  15. Turmeric Powder- 1/2 teaspoon
  16. Garam Masala- 1-2 teaspoon
  17. Salt- as per taste
  18. Oil - 2-3 tablespoon
  19. Coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade by blending all the ingredients mentioned for marination in a mixer jar.
  2. Apply the prepared marinade mixture to the chicken and let it rest in refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
  3. Now in a deep bottom pan or kadai heat oil on high flame and saute the onions till golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and fry for 3-4 mins.Now add turmeric, coriander and red chilli powder. Continue frying for another 2-3 mins or till oil separates.
  5. Finally add 1/2 cup of yoghurt and salt as per taste. Cover and cook on low flame for 20-25 mins or till the chicken is completely cooked.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
