Ingredients to make Butter chicken

  • 1/2 kg Boneless chicken
  • lemon juice
  • salt as per taste
  • red chilli powder
  • ginger garlic paste
  • Thick curd as required for marinating
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 thin cinnamon stick
  • 1 green cardamom
  • 2 cloves
  • 2 green chillies slit
  • 4 large tomatoes pureed
  • 10 cashew nuts paste
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • cream
  • coriander leaves for garnish

How to make Butter chicken

  1. Marinate chicken with lemon juice, salt, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste and curd. Keep it aside for 1 hour.
  2. After 1 hour grill the chicken in oven.
  3. For gravy heat the butter in a pan. Add all the whole dry spices and fry till gets the aroma. Add ginger garlic paste, green chilies and fry it for a minute.
  4. Add tomato puree, red chili powder, sugar and salt . Mix and cook until the tomato puree becomes thick and begins to leave the side of a pan.
  5. Pour 1 cup of water into the pan, add cashew paste and let it cook for 2 minutes or adjust the consistency with water.
  6. Add garam masala in a gravy then add chicken and simmer for about 5 minutes, till it becomes soft and tender.
  7. Switch off the gas and mix cream
  8. Garnish the butter chicken with coriander leaves.
