Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. whole masoor daal - 1 cup
  2. chopped onion - 1 medium
  3. chopped tomato - 1 medium
  4. ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  5. red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  6. garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Oil as required
  9. For tempering:
  10. Desi ghee - 2 tbsp
  11. Onion chopped - 1 small

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a cooker. Add chopped onion, black cardamom, green cardamom, bay leaf and cloves. Saute till onion changes colour.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt, stir well.
  3. Add chopped tomato mix well, fry again for a few minutes till the tomatoes become soft. Add soaked masoor daal and 2-3 cup water and cover the lid, cook about 10-15 minutes over low flame.
  4. For the tadka : In a pan heat 2-3 tbsp ghee, add chopped onion saute till onion turn brown. Pour the tempering over daal. Now masoor dal is ready to be served.
