Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. black gram skinned(soaked) - 1 cup
  2. onion 1 small
  3. bayleaf 1
  4. green cardamom 1-2
  5. black cardamom 1-2
  6. cloves 1-2
  7. black pepper 5-6
  8. ginger-garlic paste - 1 tbsp
  9. garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  10. salt to taste
  11. ghee 2 tbsp
  12. For tempering:
  13. ghee - 2 tbsp
  14. chopped onion 1 small
  15. cumin seeds - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in a pan. Add chopped onion, black cardamom, green cardamom, cloves, black pepper and bay leaf. Saute till onion changes colour.
  2. Now add ginger - garlic paste stir well. Add chopped green chilli, garam masala powder mix well.
  3. Add soaked daal and fry for a few minutes, add salt and 1/2 cup water cover the lid.
  4. After 1 whistle turn the flame low and cook daal about 4-5 minutes.
  5. In a pan heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and chopped onion saute till onion turns brown. Pour the tadka over the daal and serve hot.
