ABOUT Whole Wheat Vegetarian Pizza RECIPE

If you think pizza can’t be a part of healthy diet, then think again. Here, I have used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour to not only make the pizza crust healthy but to have a fluffy, soft and crispy pizza that we all know and love. Experiment with the toppings and let the kids choose them.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For Pizza Dough -
  2. 1 cup Whole wheat flour
  3. 1 tsp Dry active yeast
  4. 1 tsp sugar
  5. ĵ tsp salt or to taste
  6. 2 tbsp olive oil
  7. 2 tbsp olive oil
  8. For the Sauce:
  9. ĵ cup tomato paste
  10. 1 tsp sugar
  11. ĵ tsp salt
  12. 2 tbsp dried Herbs
  13. For Toppings :
  14. ĵ cup sliced yellow pepper
  15. ĵ cup sliced Baby corn
  16. ĵ cup chopped olives
  17. ĵ cup mushrooms (sauteed in butter and garlic)
  18. 1/4 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Take yeast & sugar in a bowl. Add warm water let it ferment. If the foam starts to float on top, yeast is active otherwise discard the contents & try again.
  2. Attach hook to a bowl of a standing mixer & pour in yeast, warm water, olive oil, wheat flour & salt. Start kneading the dough till it turns smooth and soft.
  3. The dough should bounce back when touched with finger. Shape into a ball, brush with olive oil and cover with plastic cling and keep aside.
  4. Leave it in a warm place for 2 hours to rise, until it doubles in size. Mix the ingredients listed under ‘For the Sauce’ and prepare sauce. Season as per your taste.
  5. Line parchment paper in a baking tray and dust it with wheat flour to avoid sticking of dough. Preheat your oven at 220°C.
  6. Transfer the dough onto a prepared baking tray and using rolling pin, roll out the dough into a circle of thickness 1-2 inches.
  7. Top with grated cheese and as per you like spread the toppings. Leave this in oven to bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust turn nice golden brown and cheese starts to melt.
