ABOUT Aloo Dahiwale RECIPE

A simple recipe for aloo (potato) cooked in dahi (curd).

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 4 - medium sized potatoes: boiled, peeled and cut into ½-inch cubes.
  2. 4 tbsp - dahi/curd ( whisked)
  3. 1 teaspoon - red chilli powder
  4. ¼ teaspoon - turmeric powder
  5. 2 tbsp - oil
  6. 1 teaspoon - cumin seeds
  7. A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  8. 6 - green chillies broken into 3 pieces
  9. 1 - spoon sugar
  10. 1 tbsp - lemon juice
  11. 2 tbsp - fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
  12. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Put the potato cubes in a bowl, add salt, chilli powder and turmeric powder then mix well. Set it aside for 4 to 5 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds. When they begin to change color, add asafoetida (hing), green chillies and sauté for one minute.
  3. Add the potato cubes into the pan and mix well. Then add two cups of water and mix again.
  4. Now add sugar, salt and lemon juice then mix it. Cover it and let it simmer for 5 to 6 minutes. Set it aside to cool slightly.
  5. Add the dahi (curd) and mix well.
  6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with pulka.
