Toor and moong daal cooked with added vegetables and served with 5 grain Rice (black Rice, brown rice, hulled Millet, buckwheat and oats.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Five grain rice 1 cup
  2. Toor dal 1/2 cup
  3. Moong dal 1/2 cup
  4. Peanuts 2 tsp
  5. Brinjal 1 (cylindrical)
  6. Bottle gourd chopped 1/2 cup
  7. Tomato 1 big.
  8. Zeera 1 tsp
  9. Asafoetida a pinch
  10. Green chilli 1
  11. Dhania powder 1 tsp
  12. Ginger grated 1 tsp
  13. Oil for seasoning 1 tsp
  14. Ghee while serving 1 tsp
  15. Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Chop brinjal in cubes. Chop bottle gourd in cubes.
  2. Wash daal and rice. Add vegetables and peanuts to dal. Add double the quantity water to 5 grain rice.
  3. Pressure cook daal and rice in a separate compartment of a cooker.
  4. Heat 1 tsp oil, add asafoetida, zeera and green chilli (chopped big). After it crackles add blended tomato and saute.
  5. Add all masala and saute for a minute. Add cooked daal. Don't blend and cook too much.
  6. Just give it a stir, adjust salt and turn the gas off.
  7. Serve hot with 5 grain rice with added ghee.
