ABOUT Savory Oats Scones RECIPE

Oats was considered as a best option for those who are on dieting and for weight watchers. Why can't try a savory version of scones with the goodness of oats.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup Rolled Oats
  2. 1 ½ cups Whole Wheat flour (homemade)
  3. ½ tsp Salt
  4. 2 tbs Baking powder
  5. ½ tsp Baking soda
  6. ½ cup Butter
  7. ½ cup Buttermilk
  8. 1/2 tsp Mixed Italian herbs
  9. 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  10. ½ cup Spinach, chopped
  11. 4 leaves of Cuban oregano chopped

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat your oven at 200C. Combine oats, wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and chili powder using spatula in a bowl.
  2. In a bowl rub cold butter with flour using your fingertips. Make soft dough by adding buttermilk. Knead by adding mixed herbs, freshly chopped spinach and Cuban oregano.
  3. Gently shape the dough into circle of ¾ th inch thickness and cut into wedges.
  4. Place them in the baking tray and bake for 20-25 minutes or till golden brown.
  5. While baking give milk-sugar wash in the scones twice. Leave to cool on rack before serving.
