ABOUT Mushroom Masala RECIPE

A delicious semi dry button mushroom gravy with onion and tomatoes

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Button mushrooms one packet/ 400 gm cleaned and cut into quarters
  2. onion one big slit long
  3. tomato 2 medium cut finely
  4. ginger garlic paste 2 teaspoons
  5. Garam masala 1 teaspoon
  6. Red chilly powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Crushed jaggery 1 teaspoon
  8. turmeric pinch
  9. coriander leaves for garnishing
  10. cumin and coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  11. oil 2 teaspoon
  12. For tempering:
  13. A pinch asafoetida
  14. Two slit green chillies
  15. 1 tsp cumin
  16. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds.
  17. salt to taste


  1. Heat oil in pan
  2. Add tempering of asafoetida, cumin and mustard seed, slit green chillies. Let it splutter
  3. Add onions and saute
  4. Add ginger garlic paste
  5. Cook till onions become translucent
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft
  7. Now add mushrooms and mix well
  8. Cover the lid and cook till mushrooms shrink and leave moisture
  9. Now add garam masala, cumin coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilly powder and jaggery
  10. Mix well and cook till mushrooms are soft
  11. Add salt as per taste.
  12. Garnish with coriander leaves.
