ABOUT Ras Vada RECIPE

A Bengali dessert made with urad dal and natural sweetness of sugar cane

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Urad Dal - 1 cup
  2. Cooking soda - 1 pinch
  3. Sugar cane juice - 1.5 liter
  4. Elaichi powder - 1/4tsp
  5. Milk - 500 ml
  6. Powdered milk - 1 tbsp
  7. Refined oil (to fry)

Instructions

  1. To make the syrup, heat the sugar cane juice and reduce it to 300 ml.
  2. It becomes thick and sweet enough, add cardamon powder and mix. Keep aside.
  3. To make the vada, soak the Urad Dal for few hours and then blend it in a mixer grinder.
  4. Then beat it with hand to make it fluffy, add soda and rest it for 30 minutes.
  5. Heat ample amount of oil in a kadhai and drop a small amount of batter into it, fry them.
  6. Drop these vada into the sugar syrup and coat nicely.
  7. To make the Rabdi, heat the milk and nd reduce it to almost half the amount.
  8. Mix the milk powder and stir. cook for few more minutes and add little sugar cane syrup into it. Mix.
  9. Serve the Rasgullas vada with the Rabadi.
