ABOUT Sanna RECIPE

A Traditional Recipe from the Goan cuisine made out of boiled rice and eaten mostly with Xacuti, Roast beef or Sorpotel

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1tbsp puffed rice
  2. 1/4 cup split black gram daal
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Sugar to taste
  5. 2 cups uncooked rice
  6. 1tbsp puffed rice
  7. 1/4 cup split black gram daal
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Sugar to taste

Instructions

  1. 1. In a bowl, soak the rice and spilt gram for 2 hours or preferably overnight.
  2. 2. Grind this with puffed rice in a grinder to form a thick batter.
  3. 3. Add salt and sugar to the batter and mix well, after the batter ferments.
  4. 4. Take a steel mould and baste it with oil. Pour the batter in it, 3/4th full.
  5. 5. Pour water in a steamer and bring it to boil. Add the moulds in it and let it steam for 10 mins.
  6. 6. After the sanna is cooked, transfer it from the mould to a plate and let it cool down.
  7. 6. After the sanna is cooked, transfer it from the mould to a plate and let it cool down. 7. Serve the Sanna with Roast beef, Xacuti or Sorpotel.
