ABOUT Masoor Pulao RECIPE

Whole masoor makes a quick meal, if planned well under 20 minutes too. Mild seasoning, eggs, potatoes, and a light base of onion tomatoes makes this Pulao a yummy tasty meal. This is our Kokani special.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 200 grams - Whole Masoor
  2. 250 grams - Rice ( I used Basmati )
  3. 2 - Tomatoes
  4. 2 - Medium Onions
  5. 1 tbs - Ginger garlic paste
  6. 2 - Potatoes
  7. 2 - Boiled eggs
  8. 1 tsp - Red chilli powder
  9. 1/tsp - Haldi / turmeric
  10. 1 tsp - Zeera powder
  11. 1 tbs - Coriander powder
  12. 1 tsp - Garam Masala
  13. 1/2 tsp - Pepper
  14. 1/2 Cup - Coconut Milk
  15. 3 Tbs - Oil
  16. 2 tsp - Pure ghee

Instructions

  1. Soak Dal overnight so it cooks faster. Chop onion, tomatoes in vegetable chopper and saute well in some hot ghee.
  2. Mix the soaked Dal in tomato onion masala, add all seasoning and whole potatoes. Mix well.
  3. Cover and cook in pressure cooker till one whistle. Once the pressure releases , cool the daal.
  4. Boil rice and eggs simultaneously. once boiled, peel the egg shells and heat a little oil in a pan and saute the whole peeled eggs. Serve hot with curd or raita.
  5. Once the rice is also cooked layer the rice and the dal in a pot. Mix properly. Spoon it in a serving dish and garnish with boiled sauteed eggs and tomato wedges.
