ABOUT Turmeric Ginger Pickle RECIPE

Fresh Turmeric Ginger Pickle is a heirloom recipe, which is mainly prepared during the pongal season(January month) as we get fresh turmeric in our place easily during that time. In this recipe, Fresh Turmeric, ginger, green chili are mixed with salt,mustard powder, lemon juice and little oil. The pickle is then left to be marinated for a day before consuming it. It goes very well with curd rice, rotis & parathas.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Fresh turmeric – 150 gm
  2. Ginger – 50 gm
  3. Green chili – 4
  4. Mustard – 1 tbs
  5. Lemon Juice – 50 ml
  6. Oil – 1tsp
  7. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Roast mustard for just 15 seconds, cool and powder it.
  2. Wash the fresh turmeric. Peel the turmeric skin and chop them finely thin pieces.
  3. Wash the ginger. Peel the ginger skin and chop them finely thin pieces. Make sure the size of pieces of turmeric and ginger are same.
  4. Chop green chili into small round shapes. Mix turmeric, ginger, green chili with mustard powder, salt and oil. Squeeze lemon and mix well with the rest of the ingredients.
  5. Transfer it in a bottle and leave it for a day. Second day, take out and shake well and start consuming.
