ABOUT Chicken Dal Pulao With Cucumber Bell Pepper Raita RECIPE

When you want to have something good, delicious as well as healthy but do not have much time or on a lazy day, this one pot meal chicken dal pulao is a good option. It is moreover quick and easy and doesn't require much of your time.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chicken - 250 gm
  2. Toor Dal - ¼ cup
  3. Basmati rice - 1½ cup
  4. Bay leave - 1 small 
  5. Cinnamon - 1 stick 
  6. Green Cardamom - 3 nos
  7. Cloves - 4 nos
  8. Onion - 2 thinly sliced 
  9. Tomato - 1 large thinly sliced 
  10. Ginger garlic paste - 1 tbsp 
  11. Green chillies - 2 whole 
  12. Turmeric Powder - a pinch
  13. Chilly powder - ¼ tsp 
  14. Garam masala powder - ½ tsp 
  15. Coriander powder - ½ tsp 
  16. Curd - 3 tbsp 
  17. Coriander leaves - few leaves chopped 
  18. Oil - 3 tbsp 
  19. Salt to taste 
  20. Water - 2¼ cup approx
  21. For cucumber bell pepper raita:
  22. Curd - 1  cup 
  23. English cucumber - 1 small chopped 
  24. Yellow and Green bell peppers - ½ cup
  25. Onion - 1 small chopped 
  26. Green chilly - 1-2 chopped 

Instructions

  1. Wash the basmati rice and dal and soak them in some water and keep aside. 
  2. In a pressure cooker heat the oil. Add the whole spices and let it crackle. 
  3. Add ginger garlic paste, onion, green chillies and saute for a min. Add tomatoes and saute for a min. 
  4. Add the masala powders and mix well. Add the chicken, salt to taste, curd and mix well. Cover and cook for about 5-10 mins. 
  5. Meantime while cooking the chicken, you can make ready the raita. Take the curd and beat it with a spoon to make it smooth. Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, garnish with mint sprig and keep aside. 
  6. Now add the soaked rice and dal, chopped coriander leaves, water and pressure cook for 3 whistles and take off the heat. 
  7. Let the pressure release by itself. Open and fluff it with a fork and serve with raita. I served it hot with cucumber bell pepper raita.
