Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Rava / Semolina - 1/4 cup
  2. Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  3. Cumin seeds - 2 tsp
  4. A pinch of asafotida
  5. Salt as per taste
  6. Ghee - 1 tbsp
  7. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat almost 1 cup of water in a pan & when it starts to boil, add in a pinch of salt & rava. Mix them all well. Cook them on low-flame for 2-3 minutes or until the rava is done. When done, allow it to cool completely.
  2. In a wide bowl, add cooked rava, rice flour, cumin seeds, asafoetida, ghee & salt. First mix them all well or until you get a crumbly texture.
  3. Add a water little by little & make them into a smooth dough. Do not make them into a stiff dough else it is very difficult to press the murukku.
  4. Make a star shaped hole plate & fill the dough until 3/4th, press and draw them on a sheet/paper.
  5. Meanwhile, heat oil in a kadai & drop them in oil & fry them on low-medium flame until golden brown on both the sides.
  6. Drain them in a tissue paper & when they cool down completely,store them in a air-tight container..
