ABOUT OPOS Jack fruit Curry / Kathal Ki Sabji RECIPE

Aromatic Jack fruit curry flavoured with whole ground spices that gets ready in minutes. No need of boiling and deep frying the jack fruit.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Jack fruit chopped in big chunks - 4 to 5 Cups
  2. onion - 2
  3. tomatoes - 3 to 4
  4. Whole red chilli - 2 to 3
  5. Black pepper corns - 8 to 10
  6. cinnamon stick - 1 medium size
  7. cloves - 4 to 5
  8. garlic cloves - 4 to 5
  9. ginger grated - 2 teaspoon
  10. ghee or oil - 2 tablespoons
  11. jeera - 2 teaspoons
  12. Bay leaf - 1
  13. haldi powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  14. Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
  15. coriander powder - 2 teaspoons
  16. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Put onions, tomatoes, ginger, garlic, black pepper, cloves,whole red chilly and cinnamon stick in a blender and make a puree.
  2. Heat oil or ghee in a pressure cooker. Addrackle jeera and add bay leaf. When jeera crackles add haldi, red chilli,coriander, garam masala powder and sauté a little.
  3. Add ground masala/puree and sauté till oil separates. Now add chopped jack fruit chunks and sauté little. Adjust salt and add a cup of water.
  4. Mix it well. Close the lid and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistle. Yummy aromatic Kathal /Jack fruit ki sabji is ready.
  5. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot with chapatis, paratha or steamed rice
