ABOUT White Fish Curry RECIPE

White fish is a thin variety of marine fish which gets cooked fast and is also tasty for both curries and frying.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. White fish - 1/2 kg
  2. Onion - 1
  3. Tomato - 2
  4. Coconut, grated - 3 tablespoons
  5. Coriander powder - 3 tsp
  6. Chilli powder - 2-3 tsp
  7. Green chilli - 2
  8. Curry leaves as required
  9. Mustard - 1 tsp
  10. Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  11. Ginger julienne - 1/4 tsp
  12. Garlic - 1 Clove
  13. Tamarind as required
  14. Coconut oil - 2 tsp
  15. Oil as required

Instructions

  1. Chop onion and grind tomatoes to a fine paste. Soak tamarind in water.
  2. Wash the fish well and keep it aside.
  3. Grind coconut along with garlic and jeera.
  4. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan and add mustard and allow to splutter. Add ginger juveniles and saute for a few seconds and add chopped onion and curry leaves.
  5. Once the onion changes colour add tomato puree and turmeric and saute till the raw smell disappears.
  6. Add coriander powder, chilli powder and salt. Saute for a few minutes till oil separates.
  7. Add tamarind water, coconut paste, green chilies and the fish. Add required water for the curry.
  8. Close the lid and cook for 15 min in medium flame. Once done pour 2 tsp coconut oil and switch off(optional to add coconut oil. It gives a good flavor.
  9. Serve after an hour.
