ABOUT Idli Dhokla RECIPE

A twist on classic idli that is turned to dhokla in this recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Besan - 1 Cup
  2. Suji - 2 tsp
  3. Water
  4. Oil - 2 - 3 teaspoon
  5. Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Sugar - 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  8. Green chilli + ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
  9. Slit green chilies - 3 - 4
  10. Curry patta - 3-5
  11. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  12. Lemon juice - 2 tsp
  13. Baking soda - 1/2 tsp or Fruit salt - 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Mix besan and suji in a bowl and add ginger green chilli paste to it. Add half cup water to make a smooth batter.
  2. Add salt, turmeric powder, lemon juice and 1 tsp oil in it.
  3. Grease the idli stand. Mix the batter and add the fruit salt. Mix again.
  4. Pour the batter in idli molds and steam for 15 minutes.
  5. Now make tadka for idlis : Take oil in a pan, add rai, curry leaves and green chilies. Add 1 cup water, the remaining leon juice and sugar.
  6. Take out the steamed idlis in a serving plate and pour the tempering over it. Serve it with coriander leaves as garnish.
