Kappa Puzhukku

Ingredients to make Kappa Puzhukku

  • Tapioca - 3 (medium sized)
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • salt as required
  • water - 3-4 Cups
  • coconut oil - 2-3 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red chili whole - 2
  • Green chili - 1 (cut lengthwise)
  • curry leaves - 2 sprigs

How to make Kappa Puzhukku

  1. Peel and clean the tapioca.
  2. Cut them into smaller pieces and wash well.
  3. Boil water in a pressure cooker. Once the water boils, add in the tapioca, turmeric powder and salt.
  4. Cook for 2 whistles and allow the pressure to release on its own.
  5. Once cooked completely, drain the excess water and keep aside.
  6. In another pan, heat coconut oil. Splutter mustard seeds then add the curry leaves, green chili and red chilies.
  7. Saute for a minute and then add the cooked tapioca to this and mix well. Switch the flame off.
  8. Serve hot with spicy fish curry or shallot chili dip.
