ABOUT Prawn Malai Curry RECIPE

Prawn cooked in coconut milk, a rich and creamy prawn curry to be served with some steamed rice. This recipe is adapted from my mother's recipe collections.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 8 tiger prawns (cleaned)
  2. 3 large onions made into a paste
  3. 3-4 green chilli (slitted)
  4. 1/4 teaspoon black pepper powder
  5. Whole Garam Masala (4 cardamoms, 4 cloves, 1 inch cinnamon)
  6. 2 Bay Leaves
  7. 4 Tablespoon Vegetable Oil
  8. 1 tablespoon curd
  9. 1 teaspoon sugar
  10. 1 Cup Coconut Milk
  11. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a Kadai. Add salt to the prawns and fry them till golden. Keep the fried prawns aside.
  2. Heat oil again, and add the bay leaves and the whole garam masala and saute till you get the masala smell.
  3. Add the slitted green chillies and onion paste and fry till it turns golden brown.
  4. Blend in the curd and saute.
  5. Add salt and sugar to taste. Add the black pepper powder.
  6. Add the fried prawns and pour the coconut milk over it.
  7. Cook till the gravy has a reach texture.
