ABOUT Restaurant Style Roasted Squid RECIPE

This squid roast recipe is a super hit at home. It is perfect to be eaten with steamed rice, appam or roti.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Squid (cleaned & cut) – 1 cup
  2. Onion (chopped) – 2
  3. Tomato (chopped) – 2
  4. Ginger garlic paste – 1 and 1/2 tbsp (divided)
  5. Red chilli powder – 3 tsp (divided)
  6. Corriander powder – 2 tsp
  7. Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tsp
  8. Corriander leaves (chopped) – 2 tbsp
  9. Curry Leaves - 1 sprig
  10. Water – as required
  11. Salt – as required
  12. Coconut oil or any other oil – 3 tbsp
  13. Crushed fennel seeds 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Pressure cook the squid for 10 minutes with salt, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and 3/4 tbsp ginger garlic paste. Save the cooked water that is leftover for later use.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Saute the onions until they turn pink and soft.
  4. Now add in the remaining ginger garlic paste and curry leaves and saute till the raw smell goes off.
  5. Add the tomatoes and saute well.
  6. Next, add turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder. Mix well.
  7. Now add little water in which the squid was cooked.
  8. Once it starts to boil, add in the squid too.
  9. Check salt and add accordingly.
  10. Add in the crushed fennel seeds and chopped coriander leaves and stir.Cook closed for 5 minutes.
  11. Have this yummilicious squid roast with appam, roti or even rice.
