This jam is tangy, spicy & sweet. Made with raw mangoes, goes well with bread, chappati & pancake.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Raw mango - 2 Nos
  2. sugar - 3 cups
  3. water - 2 cups
  4. chilly powder- 1 teaspoon
  5. salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  6. cardamom - 4
  7. Cinnamon- 1/4 teaspoon
  8. nutmeg powder - 1/4 teaspoon
  9. pepper powder- 2 pinch


  1. Take 2 raw mangoes. I've used thothapuri variety. You may use any other type which is slightly sour. Wash well.
  2. Peel and chop to desired shape. I like some bite sizes while eating.
  3. Add water and cook the mangoes in a thick bottomed vessel. Stir occasionally.
  4. Add salt, chilly powder, pepper powder, crushed cardamom, Cinnamon powder & nutmeg powder.
  5. Cook in slow fire, stirring ocassionally till it thickens.
  6. Check the consistency before removing from the flame. To get the right consistency, spoon the jam in a cooled saucer. If it thickens when you touch with your finger, it is ready. Else, cook for some more time.
  7. Bottle the jam in sterilized bottles.
