Red velvet is the name of a dessert but i have named this savoury dhokla as red velvet because of the lovely red color, no added color or preservatives, very healthy and yummy to taste.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup rava ( sooji)
  2. 1/2 cup yoghurt
  3. 1/2 cup beet root puree
  4. 1 tsp ginger chilli paste1
  5. 1 tsp Fruit salt
  6. For tempering
  7. 1 tbs oil
  8. 1/2 tsp mustard and seasame
  9. Slit green chilies
  10. chilli flakes
  11. curry leaves
  12. coriander leaves
  13. 1/2 cup hung curd


  1. Mix rava ,beet root puree.curd ginger garlic paste.and salt.
  2. Keep aside it for 15 minutes
  3. Boil the water in a steamer and then grease a pan In which you would steam the dhokla.
  4. Now add fruit salt into the batter, mix it lightly and steam it for 10 to 12 minutes or until the skewer comes out clean..
  5. For tempering .in a small pan heat the oil and add all the tempering spice..
  6. When ithe dhokla get completely cool then layer it with yoghurt and sprinkle the tempering spice over it..
  7. Now ur red dhokla is ready .serve it with ur favourite dips or chutney..
