ABOUT Indori Poha RECIPE

We lived in Madhya Pradesh (Khajuraho) for a year and we used to explore the nearby important places every weekend. When ever we went out for breakfast we ate this poha and hot jalebis along with chai or hot milk. In the beginning, I didn't accept this as my breakfast, but once I tried this it became a favorite breakfast to me.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Poha (beaten rice flakes)- 1 cup
  2. Curry leaves- 10 nos
  3. Onion- 1 small sized, chopped
  4. Green chilies- 3, chopped
  5. Curry leaves- 10 nos
  6. Oil- 1 tbsp
  7. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  8. Cumin seeds- 1/2 tsp
  9. Peanuts- 1 tbsp
  10. Lemon juice- 1 tbsp
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  13. Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash the poha for 2-3 times, then drain all the water and leave aside.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan, add the mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add the cumin seeds and ground nuts. Fry till they turn light golden in colour.
  3. Then add the chopped onion and green chilies, curry leaves and fry till the onion becomes soft.Next, add the asafoetida and stir for 1 second.
  4. Now add the turmeric powder and poha, lemon juice and stir well to combine all the ingredients. Add salt to taste, mix well and remove from the heat.
  5. Sprinkle sev mixture on top and serve it hot with jalebi, cutlet and chai.
