ABOUT Doodh Fene/ Doodh Pedhe / Thickened Milk Sweet RECIPE

Doodh Fene or sweet prepared by thickening the sweet milk(whole milk with 100% Fat) is a famous recipe from Goa(India) normally made during happy moments for celebrations. These pedhas have an awesome taste and are prepared from just 3 ingredients and you literally have to hide them from the kids to adults or otherwise they will be over within no time.

Ingredients Serving: 20

  1. Whole milk (use only full fat milk)- 1 Litre
  2. Powdered white sugar- 3/4 Cup(150 Grams)
  3. Crushed to powder- 10-12 Cardamoms
  4. Ghee or clarified butter for greasing- 2 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Grease a plate with 1 tbsp of ghee.
  2. Boil milk in a heavy bottomed non stick wok(vessel) and lower the heat to medium.
  3. Keep stirring on medium heat till milk thickens and you can see the base of the wok when you move your spatula inside. For about 45 minutes.
  4. Add sugar and cardamom powder, cook for another 15-20 mins on medium.
  5. When the mixture is completely thickened, it will start leaving the sides and you will be able to see it turning into a dough.
  6. Remove it and pour it on the plate greased with ghee.
  7. Let it cool for 5 mins. Take a marble size ball, grease your palms with ghee and shape up the pedhas.
  8. Keep these pedhe for cooling . Roughly around an hour or two. Then keep them in the airtight container.
