Kolkata style mutton gravy

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Mutton 1 kg
  2. onion 3 big size
  3. ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
  4. tomato 3 big size or 2 tsp dry mango powder
  5. salt
  6. turmeric Powder
  7. Garam masala powder
  8. Black cardamom 1
  9. cloves 6
  10. cinnamon Stick 1
  11. cumin seed
  12. pepper powder
  13. Red chilli powder


  1. Marinate mutton with salt, chilli powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder.Keep aside for half an hour. Boil this mutton in the pressure cooker.
  2. Heat mustard oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds ,1black cardamom, 1 cinnamon stick, 6 to 7cloves(for 1 kg mutton) ,saute for a while. Add ginger, garlic, chopped onion. Cook it for some time. Make it cool & make a paste of it.
  3. Again heat oil, add this paste & the marinated mutton. Add dry mango powder( instead of mango powder u can use tomato paste also).Add hot water, cover it & cook it.
  4. Adjust salt & add home made garam masala powder. It is ready now.
