Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice flour - 1 cup
  2. Urad dhal flour - 1 tbsp
  3. Jaggery - 1 cup
  4. Grated coconut - 1/4 cup
  5. Sesame seeds - 1 to 2 tbsp
  6. Cardamon powder - 2 tsp
  7. Ghee or butter - 2 tbsp
  8. Oil as required

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the rice flour in a pan for one minute. (Note that the colour should not change while roasting.)
  2. Also roast the dal till it turns golden brown in colour, then make powder forms of both the dal and flour. Sieve these powders and keep it aside.
  3. Roast the sesame seeds and coconut scraps separately and keep them aside.
  4. Powder the jaggery and immerse it completely in a bowl of boiling water. Let it completely dissolve then filter and keep aside.
  5. Mix the flour, ghee, sesame seeds, coconut, very little salt, and mix it well together.
  6. Next add the jaggery syrup little by little while continuously stirring this mixture. Knead this mixture till it becomes a soft dough.
  7. Make small balls from this mixture and keep them aside. Heat oil as required, once the oil is heated, fry these balls in small batches.
  8. Keep the flame low and fry these balls for a few minutes. Once they cool down, you can store them in a air tight container.
  9. You can also serve them warm and enjoy.
