ABOUT Murgir Malai Curry RECIPE

Here, I used chicken instead of prawns, chicken in coconut cream curry.The coconut paste adds the creamy texture, where as sweetness of raisins paste adds the special twist to this spicy dish for special occasions

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 700gms chicken
  2. 2 gm whole garam masala
  3. 2 tbsp coconuts paste
  4. 1 tbsp raisins paste
  5. 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
  6. sugar
  7. Salt
  8. Mustard oil
  9. ghee
  10. Turmeric
  11. Red chilly powder
  12. Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder
  13. Garam Masala powder
  14. Mace and nutmeg powder
  15. To make kosha gravy:
  16. 250 gms onion
  17. 1 tomato cut into pieces
  18. 1 tsp ginger paste
  19. 1/2 tsp red chilly powder
  20. 4 dried red chilly
  21. whole garam masala
  22. 1 tsp cashew paste
  23. mustard
  24. Bay leaves


  1. Wash and clean the chicken pieces and slit. marinade with salt and turmeric, red chilly powder
  2. Make the Kosha gravy- heat oil in a pan, fry the onion till brown and set aside to cool, then make a paste then temper bay leaves and whole garam masala in oil, add ginger paste, chilly powder and all the ingredients of kosha gravy. add seasonings, saute till melted and at last brown onion paste.remove ur kosha gravy is ready
  3. Heat mustard oil in pan, add whole garam masala to temper, then add the chicken pieces and saute, add little sugar,Kashmiri red chilly powder
  4. Add coconut paste, saute
  5. Add Kosha gravy and stir well till the oil comes out from side
  6. Add coconut milk, bring to a boil
  7. Add garam masala powder, mace and nutmeg powder, stir
  8. Add ghee, turn off the flame when gravy becomes thicken
  9. Garnish with coconuts
