ABOUT Wood Apple Smoothie with Jaggery RECIPE

Wood apple is very beneficial during summers as it prevents us from getting heat strokes and indigestion. It is a rich source of Vitamins and fiber. When combined with other fruits, It makes a delicious quick breakfast, a nice refreshing snack, a wonderful healthy dessert or a super post-training drink.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Bael/Woodapple fruit- 1 medium size (ripe)
  2. Grated fresh coconut 1 tbsp
  3. Curd 1/2 cup
  4. Instant oats 1 tbsp
  5. Cardamom powder- 1/4 teaspoon
  6. Jaggery- 2 to 3 tablespoons (according to sweet preference)
  7. Black pepper powder 1/4 tsp
  8. Rose water 1 tsp
  9. For garnishing:
  10. Pomegranate seeds 2 tbsp
  11. Chopped mango pieces 2 tbsp
  12. Some chopped cashews (optional)

Instructions

  1. First, gather all the ingredients.
  2. Soak the oats in 2 tsp sweet water or any fruit juice and keep aside for 5 minutes.
  3. Break open the shell of Bael fruit, scoop out all the pulp in a vessel.
  4. Soak Bael pulp in 1 to 2  cups of water for 30 minutes.
  5. Squeeze out the pulp, removing the fiber and seeds in the process.
  6. Now in a blender jar, add rose water, ice cubes, jaggery, coconut, soaked oats, cardamom and black pepper powder.
  7. Add the Bael pulp in the blender jar and blend for a few seconds.
  8. A smooth mixture is formed
  9. Pour into chilled glasses, garnish with pomegranate seeds and chopped mango pieces.
  10. Chilled wood apple smoothie is ready.
