ABOUT Cluster Beans Curry RECIPE

Cluster beans cooked in maharashrian Kolhapuri masala. I have added fresh coconut too to give thickness to the gravy.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Cluster beans (gwarfali) 200 grams
  2. onion 1 big (chopped )
  3. tomato 1 big (chopped )
  4. Garlic 4 cloves
  5. Fresh coconut scrapped 2 tablespoons
  6. oil 3 tablespoons
  7. Red chilly powder (kashmiri) 1 teaspoon
  8. turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  9. salt to taste
  10. FOR masala
  11. Dry cocoanut grated/shredded 2 tablespoons
  12. Dry coriander seeds 1 tablespoons
  13. cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  14. Poppy seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  15. Fennel seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  16. sesame seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  17. cloves 3
  18. cinnamon stick 1 of 1/2 inches
  19. Black peppercorn 3

Instructions

  1. Cut cluster beans into small pieces of 1 inch length.
  2. Dry roast all masala ingredients coconut , coriander seeds, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, fennel seeds, black peppercorn, cinnamon stick in a pan on low heat till nice aroma comes.
  3. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  4. Grind it into fine powder after cooling . Keep aside.
  5. Grind onion tomato and garlic with fresh cocoanut to a fine paste.
  6. Heat oil in pressure cooker.
  7. Add onion paste and roast till it starts leaving oil.
  8. add turmeric powder and chilly powder.
  9. Add cluster beans and salt.
  10. Add water adjust consistency of gravy.
  11. Add ground dry masala
  12. Close the lid of pressure cooker and cook till one whistle .
  13. It is ready . serve it with rice/chapati.
