ABOUT NASI GORENG RECIPE

This spicy Indonesian rice dish is a main meal on its own. Nasi Goreng is a treat for spicy food lovers and you can make it as spicier as you like.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Rice .......... 1 cup
  2. Prawns ....... 100 gms. (cleaned and deveined)
  3. Chicken ...... 100 gms (shredded)
  4. Eggs ............ 1
  5. Carrot ......... half (julienned)
  6. Garlic ......... 1 tsp (crushed)
  7. Sambal oelek .... 1 tbsp
  8. Dark soy sauce .... 1 tbsp
  9. Onions .... handful (chopped finely)
  10. Salt ............. to taste
  11. Oil ............ 2-3 tbsps

Instructions

  1. Boil the rice adding salt. Strain and set aside to cool
  2. Beat egg with a little salt and cook on a non-sticky pan on low heat. Roll it and cut into thin strips
  3. Heat oil in a wok and saute the garlic. Add the chicken and prawns. Stir fry until the colour changes.
  4. Now add half of the julienned carrot, spring onion, sauces and stir in the rice. Mix well.
  5. Garnish with omelette strips and the remaining carrot juliennes, fresh red chillies and spring onion.
