Onion Jam

Ingredients to make Onion Jam

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 600g regular onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How to make Onion Jam

  1. Heat oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and thyme. Cook, keep stirring occasionally, for atleast 15 to 20 minutes. Cook till the onions are golden brown
  2. Add sugar. Mix and cook for 3 minutes.
  3. Add balsamic vinegar and 1/2 cup cold water. Bring it to a boil. Reduce heat cook for 5 minutes or till it gets thick. Season with Salt and pepper
  4. Let it cool down. Store in an air tight container. This will stay upto 2 weeks.

My Tip:

Make sure you store in a cool dry place in an air tight container.
