This recipe is from Kerala. This can be made with sambhar onion also. This is one of the easiest recipes i have come across and one of my favorites.
I will surely try this.
Slice the onions into small thin pieces.
Cut the green chillies into small round pieces.
Pulse the coconut in a mixer with the fennel seeds, turmeric powder, chiily powder and coriander powder and keep aside. Just pulse it for a few seconds.
Heat oil in a kadai and add the mustard seeds and let it splutter.
Next add the onion, green chillies, sliced coconut and curry leaves and saute well for a few minutes.
Then add the pulsed coconut mix and cover n cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
Now remove the lid n add the garam masala n saute for a few minutes.
The onion should not be cooked too much...it should be little crunchy.
Remove from fire and it is ready to be served with rice.
SERVING: 4
