Ingredients to make Onion chutney

  • -6 to 7 onions
  • -12 dry red chillies
  • -3 table spoon tamarind
  • -salt as per taste
  • -Any cooking oil
  • For Tempering:
  • -Half tsp of cumin,mustard seeds
  • -Half tsp of split black gram
  • -Few curry leaves

How to make Onion chutney

  1. -Take little oil in vessel and add diced onions to it
  2. -saute till the onions change little brown color
  3. -Remove the sauted onions and cool them
  4. -Add 12 dry red chillies and 3tbsp tamarind to same vessel and saute for few minutes
  5. -Add salt in blender and transfer all sauted ingredients to blender and blend to coarse paste
  6. -After blending next step is tempering.Take little oil in vessel and add cumin,mustard seeds,curry leaves and split black gram,
  7. -When they crackle add blended paste and saute till it thickens by stirring continuosly.
  8. -Store in airtight box in refrigerator and enjoy the chutney with rice or rotis.

My Tip:

-you can reduce or increase the amount of red chillies as per your spiceness
