ABOUT Onion Lotus Kheer RECIPE

Depicting from the name it doesn't has any foul smell of the onion. I have given it the shape of a lotus. Has loads of dry fruits. You can smell the kesar in this gorgeous dish.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Onion - 3
  2. Milk - 1/2 litres
  3. Kesar - 1/2 teaspoon
  4. Chopped pistachios - 1 tbsp
  5. Almond- 3 nos
  6. Milk powder - 2 tbsp
  7. Sugar - 1/2 cup
  8. Quick lime - 1/2 teaspoon (chuna)
  9. Elaichi powder - 1/3 teaspoon
  10. Rose water -.2 drops

Instructions

  1. Peel the outer layer of the onion. And clean the top of the onion but keep the base intact.
  2. Give the onion 5-6 cuts or as your choice. The onion should be cut in such a way that it opens up as a flower.
  3. Then, soak the onions in ample amount of water with quicklime (chuna) for 8 hours, so that the smell of the onion can be removed.
  4. After soaking the onions for 8 hours, remove it from the water,wash thoroughly and boil it till it's soft to touch.
  5. Remove the onions from the hot water and wash it properly. Keep it aside.
  6. Reduce 1/2 litre of milk, then slowly add kesar, milk powder and sugar to the milk. Cook it till it becomes like rabdi.
  7. Then add the onions to the mixture and cook it for 2-3 mins more.
  8. Add 2 drops of rose water. Your dish is ready.
  9. For garnishing, add pistachio and almonds.
  10. Can be serve hot or cold
