ABOUT Upma Recipe RECIPE

The breakfast menu of Upma and cups of steaming hot filter coffee or tea is a common favorite in most Indian homes. It is nutritious, tasty and very easy to make at home.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Semolina - 1 1/2 cup
  2. Onion- 1 sliced
  3. Green chilies- 4 slit
  4. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  5. Yellow moong & Red masoor dal- 1 tbsp (optional)
  6. Curry leaf- 10-15
  7. Oil- 2 tbsp
  8. Water- 3 cups
  9. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a wok/ Kadai. Add mustard seeds, green chilies, curry leaves and saute for 1 minute.
  2. Add onions and saute.
  3. Add dal , salt and saute for 2 minutes.
  4. Add semolina and saute for 1 minute.
  5. Add water to the wok and cook till the water is absorbed.
  6. Serve hot. You can garnish with freshly scraped coconut and serve.
