A plate of piping hot poha is one of the best Maharashtrian breakfasts ever. This kanda poha recipe is testimony to the fact that the simplest things in life are often the best. Kande pohe is my go to option when I am craving a quick, fuss free and nutritious breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Poha/ Pressed rice - 200 gms
  2. Mustard Seeds- 1/4 tsp
  3. salt - As required
  4. oil - 1 table spoon
  5. turmeric powder - 1/2 tea spoon
  6. Green peas or peanuts- 1/2 small cup
  7. Onion- 2 Sliced
  8. Green chili - 2
  9. lemon - 1
  10. Sev - 1 small bowl


  1. Wash the poha with water and instantly strain the water from it.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and tamper with the mustard seeds into it.
  3. Add curry leaves, onions and chili continue to saute.
  4. Now add peas, turmeric powder, salt and saute well.
  5. When peas get cooked, Put poha into it and mix well.
  6. Turn off the flame once the poha is completely mixed. Add lemon juice and mix lightly.
  7. Garnish with sev after transferring it into plate.
