Rich, Creamy rice kheer cooked with postadana/ poppy seeds.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Basmati rice 1 Tbsp
  2. Full cream milk 1/1/2 litter
  3. Poppy seeds 1 /1 /2 tbsp
  4. Chopped almond 1 tbsp
  5. Raisins 1 tbsp
  6. Chiraonji 1 tbsp
  7. Chopped pistachio 1 tbsp
  8. Green cardamom powder 1 tsp
  9. Sugar 2 tbsp or as per taste

Instructions

  1. wash and soak the rice,soak the poppy seeds in water for 1/2 an hour.. Boil the milk with rice and poppy seeds cook until the rice is tender and the milk is creamy and reduced to about half.
  2. Stir often to ensure the milk does not burn in the bottom of the pan
  3. Add the sugar,pistachio, chiraonji, almonds, raisins, cardamom powder let simmer and cook for a 5 minutes. stir continuously. Turn off the heat.
  4. As kheer cools of will become thicker in texture. serve chilled.
