About Paneer Pakora / Cottage cheese fritters Recipe

This is my go to snack in the evening when vegetarian guests are at home.

Paneer Pakora / Cottage cheese fritters

Ingredients to make Paneer Pakora / Cottage cheese fritters

  • paneer 250 grams
  • besan 1 cup
  • red chilli powder 1 tbsp (optional)
  • ginger garlic paste 2 - 3 tbsp
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • oil to deep fry + 1 tsp
  • Soda bicarbonate a pinch
  • salt to taste

How to make Paneer Pakora / Cottage cheese fritters

  1. Make 1 inch long pieces of the paneer and keep aside. (See pic for ref.)
  2. Mix red chilli powder and salt and grind to a smooth paste.
  3. In a bowl mix gram flour with this paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, soda bicarbonate and salt.
  4. Add water to make a thick batter. Whisk it well and it will change from yellow to light yellow.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadhai.
  6. Meanwhile dip the paneer pieces in the batter and when the oil is sufficient hot, slide in the coated paneer.
  7. Deep fry on medium heat till crisp and golden brown.
  8. Strain and keep on paper napkin to drain excess oil.

My Tip:

Use fresh paneer for best taste.
