ABOUT Mango Podi Annam RECIPE

Raw Mango Powder Rice or Mango Podi Annam is a variation to the rice recipes. Dry mango gives a slight sour taste and the addition of the powder is an add-on to the Annam. Mango Podi Annam can be served as a lunch – box recipe. Kids will find it interesting.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dry Mango Powder – 1 tablespoon ( based on the sourness of raw mango used)
  2. Boiled Rice – 2 cups
  3. Groundnuts – 1 tablespoon
  4. Bengal gram – 1 tablespoon
  5. Black gram- 1/2 tablespoon
  6. Coriander fruits – 1 tablespoon
  7. Cumin seeds -1 tablespoon
  8. Asafoetida – 1 or 2 pinches
  9. Red chilly ( optional ) – 1
  10. Oil – 2 tablespoons
  11. Salt to taste
  12. Turmeric powder – 2 pinches
  13. Curry leaves - 2 sprigs

Instructions

  1. Heat one tablespoon of oil in a pan. Add all the above mentioned ingredients ( except salt ) and saute them until they turn golden brown in color.
  2. Turn off the flame. Allow it to rest in order to attain room temperature.
  3. Take a dry mixer jar. Grind all the sauteed ingredients into a coarse powder.
  4. Now take a shallow vessel. Transfer the already boiled rice into it and sprinkle 1 tablespoon of oil. Add salt to it as per your taste.
  5. Then add the grounded powder to the boiled rice and mix it thoroughly in all the directions so that the morsel absorbs the powder , oil and salt mixture well.
  6. Transfer it into a serving bowl. Garnish with curry leaves and serve hot.
