ABOUT Mango Sheera /Mango Kesari RECIPE

Sheera or Sooji ka halwa is a very famous Indian sweet made in different flavors like banana, pineapple or even plain with just ghee, sugar and rava. Today's recipe uses pulp of alphanso mango. You can use any variety of mango that has a sweet taste.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup rava / 150 grams rava
  2. 1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar
  3. pulp of one mango
  4. few cashewnuts
  5. 8-9 tablespoon ghee
  6. 2 cups of water


  1. In a deep bottomed pan, heat about 2 tablespoons of ghee.
  2. Roast the rava/sooji until it turns crisp and ghee starts oozing out.
  3. Meanwhile keep 2 cups of water for boiling.
  4. Pour this boiling water into the rava and quickly stir it such that there are no lumps.
  5. Once the water is totally absorbed,.add the sugar and mango pulp and mix it well.
  6. Let the entire mixture cook well and the sugar and mango pulp blend well with the rava.
  7. Add the remaining ghee and stir it well. Transfer to a container.
  8. Add roasted cashews to sheera and serve warm or chilled as you like.
