ABOUT Microwave Dhokla RECIPE

Dhokla originates from the Indian state of Gujarat.This porous and fluffy snack is liked by all at anytime of the day. In today’s fast changing world, let us prepare this delicacy in a few minutes with the help of microwave.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the Batter: Dry ingredients-
  2. ½ cup Besan (gram glour)
  3. 1 tsp Grated ginger
  4. ĵ tsp Salt
  5. 1 tsp powdered sugar
  6. 1 sachet eno fruit salt
  7. Wet ingredients:
  8. ĵ cup Curd
  9. 1 tsp Limejuice
  10. 1 tbsp Oil
  11. ĵ cup water or little less
  12. For the Tempering :
  13. 1 tbsp Oil
  14. ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  15. 2 -3 Green chillies
  16. 8-10 Curry leaves
  17. ĵ tsp Salt
  18. 1 tsp Sugar powder
  19. 1 tsp Lime juice
  20. ĵ cup water
  21. 1 tsp Dessicated coconut to garnish.

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix together all the dry ingredients except the eno.
  2. Take another bowl and mix the wet ingredients. Now combine the two and mix well to form a smooth batter of pouring consistency.
  3. Grease a microwave proof bowl and keep ready.
  4. Now add eno in the batter and give it a quick stir, then transfer it immediately to the greased bowl. Cook it on a microwave high for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Take it out and let it cool a bit.
  6. In the meanwhile you can prepare the tempering. Heat the oil and add mustard seeds to it.
  7. As the seeds splutter, add in curry leaves and slit green chillies. Remove it from the flame and add water, salt, sugar and lime juice. Your tempering is now ready.
  8. Next demould the dhokla and cut it into desired squares. Pour the tempering over it and let them the dhoklas immerse with the tempering for a while so that the flavours mingle together.
  9. Sprinkle the dessicated coconut on top to garnish. Serve hot to enjoy!
