ABOUT Chingri Maacher Bati Chorchori (Prawns Bengali Style) RECIPE

This is my family recipe, passed on to me by my mother who learnt it from my grandmother and now I follow this tradition.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 200 gms medium size prawns
  2. 2 medium potatoes
  3. 1 onion chopped
  4. 1/2 tsp haldi
  5. 1 tsp chilli powder
  6. 2 tbsp mustard oil
  7. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add the diced potatoes and onions together. Sauté for a minute or two, then add the spices and sauté again.
  2. If the masala dries up then you can sprinkle some water. Cover with a lid and cook till the potatoes are three fourth done.
  3. Now add the prawns and keep stirring. Once the prawns start changing colour, add a cup of water to make the gravy. Let it come to boil.
  4. Once the potatoes are cooked adjust the seasonings. Transfer it to a serving dish and drizzle some raw mustard oil on top.
  5. Serve with hot rice for best taste.
