We all know momos as Chinese dish. But actually its a Tibitian dish. Here is my easy and tasty recipe to prepare momos at home.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. All purpose flour 1 cup
  2. Salt
  3. oil
  4. Finely chopped cabbage 1 cup
  5. grated carrots 1/2 cup
  6. Garlic 20 cloves
  7. Soy sauce
  8. Tomatoes 3 medium size
  9. Ginger 1 inch
  10. Almonds
  11. Red chillies
  12. sugar 1 teaspoon
  13. Green chilies finely chopped 1 teaspoon


  1. For dough
  2. Take a large bowl.
  3. Add all purpose flour
  4. Salt 1 teaspoon
  5. Oil 2 teaspoon
  6. Kneed a little tight firm dough with water.
  7. Cover it with a damp cloth for 30 minutes.
  8. For momo sauce
  9. Heat a sauce pan.
  10. Add a cup of water.
  11. To it add red chillies and tomatoes.
  12. Cover the lid for 3 minutes.
  13. Then take out tomatoes and red chillies.
  14. Peel of the skin of tomatoes.
  15. Let the tomatoes cool at room temperature.
  16. In a blender, take tomatoes, red chillies, 5-6 garlic cloves, soy sauce 1 teaspoon, vinegar 1 teaspoon and a 3-4 almonds.
  17. Blend it to a smooth paste.
  18. Heat a teaspoon oil.
  19. Add minced garlic of 4 garlic cloves.
  20. Add the tomato paste prepared above.
  21. Add sugar and salt to taste.
  22. Momo Sauce is ready.
  23. For stuffing
  24. Heat 2 teaspoon oil in a pan.
  25. Add finely chopped green chilies.
  26. Add minced garlic if 10 garlic cloves.
  27. Saute a little.
  28. Add cabbage and carrot.
  29. Add Salt to taste,a teaspoon soy sauce.
  30. Toss well.
  31. Cook it for 3 minutes.
  32. Stuffing is ready.
  33. Now, prepare small round balls like cherry tomatoes out of the dough.
  34. Roll these balls into thin round sheets with the help of rolling pin and flour.
  35. Place the stuffing at the center of sheets.
  36. Apply a little water through out the edges.
  37. Now fold these like gujiya.
  38. Bring the edges together and join them together.
  39. Now take a kadhai.
  40. Add 1 cup water.
  41. Let it boil.
  42. Add another small container to it for steaming the momos.
  43. Place the prepared momos in it.
  44. Steam it for 10 minutes.
  45. Depending upon the size you can cook 5-6 momos at a time.
  46. Serve hot with momo sauce.
