This is a delicious chaat made with spices and sev, a perfect snack for evenings.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 500 gm Chana dal
  2. 250 gm Oil
  3. 1/2 tsp rai [mustard seeds]
  4. 1 tsp Til [sesame seeds]
  5. Garlic [crushed] - 1 tsp
  6. Green chillly paste -1 tsp
  7. 1 table spoon sugar
  8. 1 Nimbu(Lemon)
  9. 250 gm Zini sev
  10. 1/2 cup grated Coconut
  11. Chopped coriander leaves - 4 tbsp
  12. Salt


  1. Soak the chana dal for 3-4 hours and then grind it into a paste in a blender. Then add the green chilii paste along with some salt , and then steam it like we steam Dhokla.
  2. Now heat a pan with some oil, add mustard seeds, then add the garlic [crushed], now add the grated coconut and stir, add the juice of 1 lemon along with the sugar, stir. Pour this mixture onto the dhokla that we have prepared above.
  3. Now remove it onto a plate, cut the slices, sprinkle generous amounts of sev, some more grated coconut, coriander leaves and serve with some chutney on the side.
